Serial immigrant here.
First time I did an immigration was to Minnesota. It was nice. Almost no-one had anything bad to say about immigrants, and those that did immediately followed it up with a reassurance that I was one of the good ones.
It got worse in the Bush the Lesser years. People bad mouthing immigrants to my face didn't feel the need to apologise for it any more.
So I did another immigration somewhere where those people still have to hide their hateful selves.
No-one's making those people hide themselves in the USA, and it has just got so much worse.
