The Sun's region 4336, now facing earth, has been very active since the day it came into view on 30 January. It emitted a strong X4.2 flare occurred today at 1213 UTC; no CME detected yet.
An X1.5 flare was emitted yesterday, while a stronger X8.1 was emitted on 1 Feb accompanied by a CME, which will provide a glancing blow to Earth tomorrow night.
Region 4336 has already produced 21 C-class, 38 M-class and 7 X-class flares.
