    @pezmico
    After discussions involving different opinions about policing another person's gender/sex, I think there is a confusion for women (of any kind). Men are more often a threat, so some of my friends would like them identified for safety reasons.
    I think the answer is to ignore sex/gender and focus on the problem of violence and intimidation, which infects only some men, and sometimes comes from women.

    Trouble is I don't know of a solution.
    And my friends are still suspicious of men.

      @noodlemaz @pezmico
      I agree.

      There are various fears at play: the main one is of men *pretending* to be transwomen in order to get close to and prey on women. It's possible.
      There's another, much easier to argue against, that transwomen might continue to harbour aggressive male tendencies. Debunkable.

        @sunflowerinrain @pezmico trans women is two words, like tall woman, blonde woman, happy woman - trans is just an adjective. Squishing the words together makes trans people seem like a third category of human.

        The fact that men aren't pretending to be trans women in order to assault women and children and just do it anyway as openly-cis men is plenty enough to debunk the first. Nobody in Epstein's circle was trans. Grooming gangs aren't run by trans women. Trans women aren't shooting up US schools. The evidence is just nil.

        And yes, 'aggressive male tendencies' is nonsense. Testosterone as a hormone permits aggression, it doesn't create it. Having more makes a violent person more likely to enact the violence they're inclined towards. It doesn't create the violent impulse.

        After living as a woman and physically changing one's body, there's far more in common between trans women and cis women than between cis women and cis men. But there's still so much in common across genders anyway. People are just so concerned about genitals and that is absurd.

          If you say I'm a she/her or a he/him I take your word for it.
          If you say I am a they /them that's all good too.
          If your pronoun changes and you let me know that's a-okay, I might still get it wrong sometimes but I will do my best.

          This obsession some people seem to have about the contents of other people's undies is really disturbing.

          @pezmico @FreakyFwoof Yeah, I don't understand why some people are so preoccupied with other people's business. Some of these people are also those the talk the most about personal freedom. It seems like that for them personal freedom only counts if it lines up with their own beliefs.

            @pezmico That 00.1 % is only important when deciding which toys to bring to bed. *whistles innocently*

              @noodlemaz @sunflowerinrain @pezmico Female on male and female on female domestic violence occurs in spite of women being heavily socialized to control violent emotions. I think trans demonizing is part of culture's reluctance to admit women can be as violent as men.

                @pezmico So much this. Also about my own gender. It affects me not at all what gender people want to think I am.

                  @pezmico most people think they live in an HOA for people's bodies.
