What the, and I cannot overstate this, fuck?

@nazokiyoubinbou @c64whiz @bloor You mean the Styx?
@gunchleoc @c64whiz @bloor ???
-
@gunchleoc @c64whiz @bloor ???
@nazokiyoubinbou @c64whiz @bloor Styx is the river you cross into Hades

@gunchleoc @c64whiz @bloor I know that. And there is a band named after it and other things as well.
But what does that have to do with it?

@nazokiyoubinbou @c64whiz @bloor Well, I was just thinking which stream you might cross when messing with a mains cable

@bloor it probably harmonises the electron wave function so they collapse at the same time as they enter the synergistic flux capacitor interface.
Or some such bollocks.
-
@bloor thanks for the chuckle. I judge real audio people by their cables. For example Nelson Pass was interviewed in his lab and he was running normal speaker cables all over, since he knows what electricity is and how audio works. At that point I added his amps to my audio wish bucket list.
Paul from PS audio, who is not an audio engineer, on the other hand, advocated $5000k speaker cables and showed setups using them. That removed ps audio as a potential gear source.
Made my own cables. $10.

οΈ@gunchleoc @c64whiz @bloor ...
I have never heard anyone call (what is supposed to be) a huge river a "stream" but ok.
I believe it means "don't cross the streams*" which is a reference to the original Ghost Busters movie. (No clue why it's resurrected these days as a modern Internet meme, but it shows up a lot, lol.)
(* except that one time)
Or maybe it just means audio streams or something. I don't know.

Most of us didn't know these were mains cables originally until that other post.
-
@bloor lolwut, what kind of crochet is that, they couldβve tried to make an effort at least.
-
@bloor Bob Pease (R.I.P.) wrote an article a long time ago about "audiophile" speaker cables. He found plain old zip cord and even ribbon cable was just as effective.
-
I did wonder if one of the Encabulators would make an appearance. Have a doughnut

-
@bloor apologies if someone already posted but let this guy put you on game https://www.headphonesty.com/2024/02/japanese-audiophile-builds-personal-utility-pole/
-
@bloor those are going to pick up SO much dust and crap.
-
@bloor I know this is a joke, but I wonder how this would sound.
Not how good it would sound, but if it would impact the input sine wave. -
@bloor Audiophiles can be some of the most gullible people on the planet.

οΈ@gunchleoc (I got it, lol)

@bloor I... don't know what to say about this...
-
@bloor βAIβ enhanced cables bro.
-
@bloor that's *fascinating*. I can't stop looking at it.
What on *earth* were they trying to do here?

@SomeVeganCheeseIsOk @bloor I donβt know but I assume they are trying to reduce induced currents in adjacent wires.
EDIT yeah I know twisted cables already solve that, I mean thatβs the grift
Butβ¦these are power cables? I have no idea. Audiophiles might as well be from a different planet
