I am disappointed that no one has made a “hiss”togram of popular snake species. -
Hi folks,So my sister is a zookeeper and takes care of the birds. My friends, as it is Superb Owl day, I would like to show a more recent picture of Baked Beans, taken back in January. He now has his adult plumage and is quite majestic, particularly since he's all sticky-uppy. He was being taken past the gorilla play room and did not like the gorillas.

So I found this to be a really interesting question, because yeah, Chuck and Brandon are “default American” names to me.@astronomerritt oh yeah, I guess Angus is more Scottish. I just scanned through a list of Irish baby boy names and picked out the ones I was familiar with.
Lochlan I've never heard as Australian. But also I don't know a ton of names I tie to Australia -
So I found this to be a really interesting question, because yeah, Chuck and Brandon are “default American” names to me.@astronomerritt I wonder if that's a function of the names' actual spread, or my perception?
Does Hollywood/media only pick traditional names when it's a boy?
Are names like "Kate" just so popular that everyone uses them? -
So I found this to be a really interesting question, because yeah, Chuck and Brandon are “default American” names to me.@astronomerritt some names I'd assume the bearer was Irish:
Seamus
Angus
Ciarán
Fergus
Lochlan
Sinead
RóisínActually it's interesting. Scanning through lists of irish boys names, I recognize a lot of them but associate them with Ireland. For the girls names, I either recognize none of them, or they're all like Kate, Sophie, Lilly, Amy, which I consider so widespread to be generic. Nothing in-between where it's a name I recognize but wouldn't expect to find much outside of Ireland.

Also a Chaz -
So I found this to be a really interesting question, because yeah, Chuck and Brandon are “default American” names to me.@hattom @astronomerritt interesting that Kayleigh was the example here, since it was pretty high on this list of Irish girls names (though I suspect this list was written for Americans)

are we gonna talk about how the art for that Archmage’s Charm card comes from Gale’s most unhinged sex scene? -

Hi folks,So my sister is a zookeeper and takes care of the birds.Baby owls, not always cute. Sometimes, they look like death warmed over, right after waking up but before the coffee is ready.
My sister calls this his "mouldy strawberry" phase.Anyway, here's another picture of Beans taken the same day as the previous post. I don't think he's quite awake yet

Hi folks,So my sister is a zookeeper and takes care of the birds.Hey y'all, wanna know what a disgruntled baby owl looks like?
Well, someone opened the refrigerator near Beans. This is his disgruntled face.
Ruffled is a good word here. -

Hi folks,So my sister is a zookeeper and takes care of the birds. For more Beans the Owl content, follow #BakedBeansOwl. I'll post more pics on this thread as I get them (though we'll probably see a lot in the next week or so. I've got a few months backlog)
Also keep an eye out for other fun bird posts. The zoo also has a wonderful Tawny Frogmouth that I adore, and a baby flamingo that goes on walks around the zoo.
Plus I have a bunch of pictures of a baby barn owl they raised this spring. I'll try to attach them here or at least let you know the hashtag -
Hi folks,So my sister is a zookeeper and takes care of the birds.Beans on a hand, for scale reference. He is just too darn cute.
