There is little that I could add that would add value to what you wrote, but I will add; one of the reasons that competent (i.e. with domain knowledge) people are having to push back against the force feeding of inappropriate tools is the conflation of the general ML / MV that has been used forever (with increasing success in medical fields) with LLMs, and the FOMO adoption of (largely LLM based) AI in every field.

@fesshole I haven't had a hair cut since covid.

You might think that is a bit of an overreaction to barbers and hairdressers claiming in the early days that they were essential services like doctors and should be allowed to remain open, but fuck those covid denying nut-jobs who think that washing their hands between cuts was going to be enough to prevent an airborne aerosol from spreading.

Plus, I liked being a long haired rebel lout, and it was a great excuse.
