To keep myself from posting an expletive-laden rant, I'll just point that Ford's lack of education is showing. Anyone who's been to university knows the actual pejorative is _underwater_ basket-weaving.

I gave a talk recently to some legislators. It dealt with the history of politics and trade in the region we were in. While some of what I presented was fairly obscure, most of it could be dug up by anyone with a library card and a few days to kill. But it all seemed to come as a revelation to my audience.

As a rule, our elected leaders aren't dumb - some are very smart. But we do ourselves a disservice when we imagine they know what we know. They might not - we may need to explain it to them.
