The story's mood changed from heartwarming to bone chilling when today, I read a sincere warning by Berlin municipal authorities to not touch birds, especially not water fowl, crows, ravens, or birds of prey: The "bird influenca" (H5N1) presently kills birds in Europe and has occasionally infected humans.
Don't touch birds (nor feathers)!
