@akareilly I would suggest a "Haitian revolution approach" to this, if you will.
So more people than ever are capable of salvaging vast amounts of information, granted that it's not "forbidden" or illicit and granted that the action of doing so is being monitored as you do it so bare that in mind... but it's still true! As stochastic and flawed as these models are you could immediately use it mindfully to emancipate yourself. Not by letting it "do your job", that's ... one can hypothesize on what that leads to... but especially when it comes to building tooling that improves the lives of everyone for free! Use it to understand frugality, life strategies, necessary career trajectory... and THEN don't use it.
Because as a software programmer I can already confidently tell you that we're navigating a horrible landscape where even entertainment itself is being compromised and online communication, from computer to phone, to the operating systems, apps we use to do vital work, bank statements, life planning...every single piece of that is audited WHEN IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE. A lot of these things are simpler to learn how to make than learning how to knit. And we could and we should. The more we build to become self-reliant the more we starve the giant that gave us the opportunity. We know what we need, they sell us solutions to problems we do not have. #TheyknowWeknowTheyLie
