No #BigTech snooping on our messages

The European Parliament is currently deciding its position on the proposed second extension of the ‘temporary’ interim ePrivacy derogation, also known as 'Chat Control 1.0'.

@edri, 39 organisations and several individual experts are urging members of the Parliament to reject any extension of the derogation.

It is vital that MEPs act now to rule out mass snooping on our private messages.

Security ≠ surveilling everyone

With 18 CSOs, we have sent a letter to the Federal Department of Justice & Police to oppose plans to expand its data retention regime. This proposal forces the collection & retention of people’s data across the board, dramatically widening online surveillance.

It's disproportionate, rights-eroding & incompatible with a democratic society: Swiss authorities must abandon mass data retention & stop treating everyone as a suspect.
