  • Every time I watch Stephen Colbert, I think of May 21, 2026, where his last show airs from The Ed Sullivan Theater in NY.

You may be thinking of John Oliver. He's British. He was also a correspondent on the Daily Show and now does Last Week Tonight on HBO.

Oliver is now a US citizen and says he loves this country, his life is here and he wants to do what he can to fight for justice.

Stephen Colbert is from Charleston NC USA.

It may have been humility but I saw an interview with him recently where he was contrasting himself with Jon Stewart. He felt Jon was naturally politically savvy but he wasn't. He said his writers make him look smart.

So hopefully his writers, who will also be out of work, will choose to continue to fight authoritarianism with comedy along with Stephen.

I really hope whatever it is, part is a monologue. They lift my spirits.

  • Trump calls wind turbines "losers".

You might need to check your sources. Maybe there is an issue with the year of that data or what power consumption it refers to:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wind_power_in_Denmark

The US' percent of power generated isn't as good but we do have a lot more than I thought we did:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wind_power_in_the_United_States

P.S. Wind power is not a "loser". Our president projects a lot of his own insecurities.
