The correct answer here is Costa v ENEL (1964). It established the principle of supremacy (precedence) of EU law over conflicting national legislation.

All right EU law nerds!@sunnythesheep these flowers that make a blue tea that turns purple with lemon juice (or any kind of acidity) are called Butterfly Pea Flower
I got mine in Thailand, when I was on holiday -
All right EU law nerds!@sunnythesheep
I actually have these flowers at home and regularly serve this purple lemonade to my guests

The oxymoron is probably my favourite poetic device⦠finding the poetry in the driest of subjects is a serious life skill.
-
All right EU law nerds!@sunnythesheep direct effect means that people in your countries can apply EU law directly in their courts.
Some types of EU legislation have direct effect while others do not. For instance EU directives donβt have direct effect and have to first be transposed into international law by the member states. I always found it ironic that the type of law called a directive doesnβt have direct effect. -
All right EU law nerds! All right EU law nerds! Itβs time for another #EPSO quiz question, by popular demand, we are addressing EU case law.
The case Costa v ENEL (1964) Established which of the following principles? -
It's been too long since I took a good photo with the bass guitar, so here is one from rehearsal yesterday.π My favourite bass line right now is probably from Feel Good Inc,by Gorillaz, which has also become my go-to to sing at Karaoke.@FrancoisPrague this one is iconic too! You start playing, people will instantly recognise the song.

Did you know the Court of Auditors is also on #Mastodon?Did you know the Court of Auditors is also on #Mastodon? Go say hello! @EUauditors
The European Court of Auditors (ECA) was made a full EU institution by the TEU, under Article 13 TEU, and Articles 285-287 TFEU. As the name suggests, it audits the expenditure of the other institutions for legality and sound financial management.

Welcome to the Fediverse @DanaSpinant!Welcome to the Fediverse @DanaSpinant!
Dana Spinant is the Director-General for Communication at the European Commission! That's a really important role!

Hi Everyone.@murein welcome to the fediverse!

Sometimes, people on Facebook don't know the Fediverse exists.@MissWarcraft I would say there are many reasons.
I also think that Mastodon just doesn't have a large marketing budget, that would be useful to get people on board.
That, and I think the initial step of choosing a server can be offputting -
Sometimes, people on Facebook don't know the Fediverse exists.@realcaseyrollins @lucien
for me, it took some time to get used to the federated nature.
For example, if I am on my EUPolicy server and I open a link to a mastodon.social profile, I won't be logged into my EUPolicy account and can't directly interact. I have to find them in my search bar. It's not a huge thing, but it lead to some hang-ups.
I was shameless enough to admit I was struggling with this, and people in the comments just walked me through the process. Good community here. -
Sometimes, people on Facebook don't know the Fediverse exists.@szkodnix any opportunity to promote Fedi
(Although on second reading I admit that could have been better phrased, they are asking for an EU-only platform and Fedi is global...) -

Are we just tagging other Hannahs now?

-
Sometimes, people on Facebook don't know the Fediverse exists.@lucien also, you have to bear in mind that when we reply to public comments, it isn't just for the benefit of the one person who commented, but for anyone else who may be lurking in the comments sections.
And: usually you have to hear about a new product a number of times before you try it out. So, many baby steps, one big goal. -

Yeah, what the Commission answered here isn't quite what they asked.
But with a generous reading, still an opportunity to promote the Fediverse. -

I know, I know...
When I first started (a week ago), I struggled with understanding the federated nature.
But I just put out a post to ask questions, and people explained things to me, and I was amazed with the awesome community out here!
