@Nfinitywaltz Whoa. I'm weeping. This was amazing.

I am "nervous about my laptop sitting at an angle because that can damage the hard drive" years old@0xabad1dea I’m “dreaming of affording that three thousand dollar five meg hard drive for my computer” years old.

From yesterdays walkies in the forest behind Mum's neighbourhood.@sinituulia we had a fairly cold January (down to about -20 C, -40 to -50 with wind chill) but it’s been much milder this month. We might even hit 15 C this week though it’s supposed to cool back down next weekend, but only to around -5 to 0. After last month that’s practically short sleeves weather!

From yesterdays walkies in the forest behind Mum's neighbourhood.@sinituulia I just moved back to Michigan last year after not living here for a very long time. I am however a “troll”, or from the lower peninsula (because we live under the bridge!
). There’s a lot of (mostly) good-natured rivalry between the two peninsulas. I love them both though. I love the beaches here, winter or summer. It’s kind of wild seeing fresh water as far as the eye can see. -
From yesterdays walkies in the forest behind Mum's neighbourhood.@sinituulia wow, it’s gorgeous. Looks like the upper peninsula of Michigan in the winter. Lots of folks descended from the Finnish diaspora live there too!

"These stairs rock!", I say right before I trip and break 30 bones@catsalad I'm not a firefighter, but I have friends who are, and I can tell you right now what they'd say.

There is a short story called "Eight O'Clock in the Morning" by Ray Nelson.@MedeaVanamonde @gwynnion poor eels.

There is a short story called "Eight O'Clock in the Morning" by Ray Nelson.@gwynnion I still use "fnord" in conversation sometimes.
Yeah, I love "They Live" and I totally got what Carpenter was saying, but people can oftentimes see what they want to see in a conspiratorial story like that. Fnord is a subtle idea, but its meaning as control is clear.

1/3@ReggieHere @Valent @EugeneMcParland which I think is his point?

One of the greatest strengths of the English language is any noun can be an insult if delivered in the right tone.@afewbugs also nearly every alliterative “verbing the noun” construction sounds like an euphemism for masturbation.

Ugh 😩 I met my new doctor today, had my yearly exam, and got three vaccines.@alice the worst I EVER felt from a jab (my first shingles vaccine) was a lovely walk in the park compared to the one time I had COVID. I loaded up on a bunch of them in early 2025 as well because I had no idea if they would still be around.

If you're thinking of getting into analog photography, be aware: there are lots of negatives.@corbden Not in the case of me skiing. My butt is frequently my upside.

If the nice Vietnamese lady at the salon can fix my acrylic nail without evidence of a break in 10 minutes, I think a spy agency can defeat your sparkle nail polish.@hacks4pancakes Don't underestimate the power of Vietnamese salon ladies!

Happy #BlackHistoryMonth !@mekkaokereke yep. Lincoln’s goal was never to end slavery, even though he supported abolition. Preserve the Union, no matter what. The Emancipation Proclamation only freed slaves in territories under “rebellion”. The only slaves freed during Lincoln’s time were the ones in the District of Columbia, after the Civil War already started.

Finished is better than terrible #oldknees@falseknees the funny thing is when I learned to just finish my art (music in this case) a lot of them were terrible, but each of them helped me figure out something to make the next one better. And in the last few years, I've made a few things that I like and am proud of!

The real MLK was a radical.@Ultraverified @amerpie In an indecent, uncaring, and thoughtless society, that is radical.
-
The real MLK was a radical.@amerpie I hate this holiday because the hypocrisy is palpable. While alive the government did their level best to literally and figuratively destroy this man. And now that he's dead, they've co-opted and watered down his messages to a kindergarten-level "we should all get along" thing.
