@zompus @sundogplanets They aren't. The physics of heat doesn't work out, nor is there much in the way of rad hard compute that you could put in orbit. Like much of what Musk talks about, the orbital data centers thing is bullshit, not a real thing.

I'm really feeling seriously depressed about the disaster in orbit today, I already had a couple of meetings and a flurry of emails about the fucking awful SpaceX million satellite filing. -
@mr_daemon this, but also: the number of encarbulator dot com websites I've seen that also do not tell you what it is/does on the main page, or even anywhere within a click or two, is too damn high!@saxicola @mr_daemon Gods what an annoyance. Just one line guys, I need to know if the search that brought me here was in any way successful or a wrong turn!

Well, everyone, you can now submit a comment to let the FCC know what you think about SpaceX asking for 1 million satellites for "AI datacenters" whatever the fuck that means.@lauren @sundogplanets I think this one is about the IPO - he wants to pawn off SpaceX on the open market (especially now that he's rolled the other loser companies into it), and this is about hyping SpaceX. If the commentary were to kill the idea ASAP, it might help fubar the IPO, which would be good for all the rest of us.

It's 2026 now.@da_667 @mttaggart The longer this horseshit goes on, the worse things will be when it all collapses. They're throwing around enough money that the real economy is going to be affected when they die, and them dying is inevitable.
