@BlackAzizAnansi βParable of the Sowerβ by Octavia Butler was dystopian in 1993 but nowadays just reads like it reflects reality but itβs a phenomenal book.

Can anyone recommend any good horror/dystopian books? -
I tend to be pretty hard on myself and see faults instead of strengths but Iβm at least able to admit that Iβm a good cook and I make tasty food that people like to eat.@paranoiajack So very gross

That being said Iβm also neurodivergent as all get out and when I get busy Iβm absolutely shite at feeding myself with things that most humans would consider to qualify as food.
So when all these online media personalities started talking about their favorite overnight oats recipes I naturally got excited because the idea of having something healthy awaiting my morning seemed lovely to me.
I assumed some magical alchemical process would convert cold liquid and uncooked oats into a delicious consumable through the mystical power of βleave refrigerated overnightβ but it turns out that this is not the case and itβs just raw oats in liquid come morning.
I thought it was just me so I started talking to friends and they too agreed with my assertion that this was in fact just uncooked oats swimming in a cup.
I tried quick oats.
I tried rolled oats.
I tried steel cut oats (do not do this, you will die)Uncooked oats in liquid remain uncooked oats in liquid.
Overnight oats feel like itβs just internalized capitalism masquerading as meal prep. With this being a darling of the TikTok and YouTube crowd it just starts to feel forced.
I think the reality is that we are all so excited about having something healthy to eat for breakfast that we just skip right by the idea that weβre trying to eat uncooked oatmeal for breakfast because thatβs all we have time to do.
Either that or you have a magic refrigerator that somehow makes your oatmeal in liquid turn into a consumable meal overnight.
Also do not send me all the ways in which they are better if you microwave them. OF COURSE THEY ARE BETTER IF YOU MICROWAVE THEM! YOU ARE COOKING THE OVERNIGHT OATS! THAT IS CALLED OATMEAL!
