But somebody hired you. This wasn’t your idea. You didn’t say “I have an idea: let’s bring these 3 devices together on an icebreaker.”

So somebody knew enough about these 5 things: icebreakers, gps, speed logs, radar, and computer programmers. They knew enough to imagine what each could do, but not enough to know that this wasn’t going to work at all.

And the supreme irony that you forgot to mention: all 4 ships, the icebreaker and its 3 ships behind, all made it safely to where they were going even while your thing didn’t work at all.

Brilliant story though. Humbling and hilarious.

So I did the whole #monsterdon from an airplane... on the ground. My 6:20 flight took off at 10:30, right after the film ended.

So the plot is that these people go into a strange city. Down a dark alley, they meet some people with terrible voices who want drugs. They choose to send a girl out to the woods to find a drug dealer. She brings the drugs back, and they tell her to give her friends some drugs.

@jon This doesn’t make sense to me. I thought patents had to be non obvious. Giving an AI some data and prompting it to do something should not be enough for a patent.

It’s also bizarre that the output might not be copyrightable, but somehow the thing that spits out the non-copyrightable output is patentable?

This is the dumbest timeline.

Individual project-sized chunks of output ARE copyrightable? But then if you hoover up all of those projects on GitHub to train the next AI, including supposedly private and copyrighted AI-generated repos? That’s fair?

A bizarre situation. Goldilocks copyright. “This data is too small to copyright.” “This data is too big to copyright” “But this data is just right.”

Exciting #monsterdon news. Thanks to @combatwombat who has a database of all the toots from all the old monsterdons, I am able to retroactively run my analysis on old events. Take a look at the oldest event he had: Mothra (1961) from Thursday, 24 Mar 2022. (It was on a Thursday??)
