Goddamn "private mention" is hard to use safely.@adamshostack @huitema @mattblaze
yeah... private mention definitely violates the principle of least astonishment really hard.

Goddamn "private mention" is hard to use safely.pretty sure "blame the user" is the first, last, and only resort of those who can't be bothered to talk to users or worry about UI/UX design.
if they are getting paid for it, they might alternate "blame the user" with "works fine on my machine".

I’m not that interested in whether the Epstein Class experiences “regret” for their actions.call me when they get concerned about the prison food...

President's Daymattresses and major appliances.
probably because we assume they're sleeping on the job and need a lot of cleaning up after them?

Looks like our deer problem is about to get solvedfor everyone but the deer.

The Trump regime is routinely telling US judges to go screw themselves -- ignoring and violating court orders, and flagrantly spitting on people's constitutional rights.there have been a number of things the founding fathers and our foundational documents assumed that we've discovered have massive weaknesses and holes in. assuming that all branches of government and all officials are acting in good faith is definitely one. another is that the whole balance of power thing only works if all three branches are actually balanced and opposed and honest.
judicial decisions without DOJ/legal enforcement isn't very effective for prevention.

Just sayin’….not complete but complete for a first start.
once we actually have a functioning 3 branch government, i'd add these (and probably a lot more):
- mandatory term limits at the federal, same for all 50 states
- universal basic income
- complete gut of the seniority system of committee assignment in congress
- reinstate the idea of domain expertise in federal departments
- protection of federal agencies from direct exec branch interference
- review of the entire constitution and the gaps that depended on good faith that got us where we are now -
Just sayin’….add "eliminate qualified immunity for all law enforcement" and i'd say you have a complete list of needs.

Have you increased shareholder value today? -
Jerry's hot take of the day: the flap about the AI agent submitting a PR and being rejected by the maintainer of an open source repo was almost certainly a person guiding an LLM with the intention of creating publicity/dramaand much easier to filter/avoid

Jerry's hot take of the day: the flap about the AI agent submitting a PR and being rejected by the maintainer of an open source repo was almost certainly a person guiding an LLM with the intention of creating publicity/dramause of LLM to try to get PRs into a FOSS project shows the same level of respect for the project as the SNL "we will pump you up" costumes showed for weight lifters.

Lol. Rofl, even."While 59% of executives say quantum-enabled AI will transform their industry by 2030, only 27% expect to be using quantum computing by then."
this sure sounds like a polite way of saying "i encourage all of my competitors to dive on this technology first"...

I'm just reading this GNU telnetd CVE from last month.RIPE did a document with recommendations for edge devices, including not having default passwords, requiring setting a decent password before starting to route packets, etc. in the early 1990s. sad that vendors are still shipping vulnerable boxes...

I'm just reading this GNU telnetd CVE from last month.my first reaction when i read this was "who uses telnet these days" but then realized that this is probably exactly why no one was fixing bugs in telnetd.

i really miss the days where i could just run adium and have multiple chats in XMPP and IRC all in the same app.

One of the more terrifying realities about the prospect of starting your own business in the US is that you quickly learn you are on your own when it comes to finding affordable healthcare.when i was living in NV, the law was that if you weren't a company with at least 25 employees or a govt agency, there were no restrictions on how badly insurance companies could screw you. it was basically major medical coverage only at $15k/year...
