  • I’ve been asked on TV hits and interviews lately to explain why decentralized social media is better, especially re: Mastodon.

    - Community-driven, not profit-driven
    - chose instance with rules that suit you
    - the "for you" feed (list), that is actually made by you
    - follow many other services/blogs from the one account (Pixelfed, Lemmy, etc.)

  • @mr_daemon this, but also: the number of encarbulator dot com websites I've seen that also do not tell you what it is/does on the main page, or even anywhere within a click or two, is too damn high!

Also don't say "Our new product [ThisThing] is available - it's like [ThatThing*]" - *I've never heard of ThatThing either, so saying it's "like" it is telling me nothing. πŸ™„

"I don't know which of those is which" - that's because the Americans, as usual, came along and made up their own definition of Gen X well after the fact of it being a thing elsewhere in the world (U.K. and Australia at a minimum, perhaps elsewhere as well), which was like 15ish years later than the original phenomenon, and, again as usual, πŸ™„ American Imperialism has been winning. I've seen U.S. articles describe them precisely, but gave them some other, lesser-known name

"Everybody forgets about #GenX" - Hence the X, for unknown, living in the shadow of Boomers
