Brain is stubbornly refusing to come up with any good suggestions tonight, but I'm looking forward to seeing more Myfanwy and Friend.

@VickForcella thank you. The trouble is that dumb phones seem to be getting worse. She's had Nokia phones for years, but each newer one seems to be lower quality and have more problems doing the basics well.

Hence the reluctant move to a smartphone.

@Robo thank you. I'd been looking at specs and reviews on GSM Arena, but never realised they have a handy phone finder search!

@z428eu thanks, the Motorola offerings were also in my list to consider. I was probably leaving towards OnePlus initially because I've had a couple of their phones in the past, but they were flagship models with good custom ROM support, so probably not comparable anyway.

@davep I did consider a refurb pixel, but the 7 is already getting on a bit. Wish they will made a current model similar to that design.

Ok Fedi, what's the least terrible budget Android phone these days?

Having to finally give in and get one for my mum, only for very basic use (mainly still just calls and texts).

Fairly clean Android OS (or is easy to disable all the bloat)
Not too big (small arthritic hands)
Reasonable performance but good battery life
Long support for security patches at least

Any opinions on the OnePlus Nord CE5? Thanks
