@ricci I do understand and respect this position that is shared by many, I am however forced to recognize that not few academics would be very unhappy if we were to suppress these incentives (which is not exactly the same as being motivated by them but still).

In the French system in which I work, I fully support the idea that actually helping academics by removing the tasks they find uninteresting is a great approach but financial incentives are still efficient…
