Today we're sharing the first in a series of three posts from our leadership team, starting with @mellifluousbox discussing our mission, and priorities for 2026. -
Your browser is all you need for open source productivity.@UltraLutra @pa27 @itsfoss They're also RMS stans which for me has to be the worst part about those running it now.

But maybe It's Foss is cool with what he stands for.

Your browser is all you need for open source productivity.@pa27 @itsfoss If you follow It's FOSS, i'm sure you've noticed they are very much so pro-AI to many of our dismay here.
They also promote a bunch of closed source apps too. At one point it was a good source of #OpenSource info / news, these days it's an #AI fanboy account with #FOSS and #ClosedSource suggestions.
The only thing that's remained the same is the name apparently.

Apparently my Fedi promo video is giving error messages on YouTube (shocker).@_elena #YouTube has become more and more problematic throwing error messages for all sorts of reasons. Most things i watch are there given the sheer amount and variety of content vs. Peertube.
I use #FreeTube and at times have to change #VPN connections in order to watch videos, at times some will only open in a browser.
It's definitely a hot mess. I wish #Peertube were a viable alternative for more than just #foss stuff but alas, it's not even close for most of what people watch/want.

Who really owns Bluesky?@mastodonmigration @ikuturso @jackie I'll ask for those too. Should go fine, usually wherever i go security guards or police like to stare at me so i'm sure they'll be all ears after asking why i'm there lol.

Who really owns Bluesky?@mastodonmigration @ikuturso @jackie Well, i am here in Seattle where they are. I'll go knock on their door and ask.

Who really owns Bluesky?@ikuturso @mastodonmigration @jackie I certainly don't claim to know what's accurate or not, but that may or may not be a way to get more info. Am entirely unsure how easy it is to register, ask for info and receive it from any of the sites that seem to have some info but require registration.
Might be worth looking into though for anyone interested in trying.

Who really owns Bluesky?@mastodonmigration @jackie From what i can find without registering and asking for more info, they got Series B funding in 2025. They've had at least 22 investors.

Given how cheap it appears to be to bribe members of the US regime, has anyone in the EU considered that they could probably outbid Russia?@david_chisnall Maybe when the EU can afford to exist without the USA, they can make an offer.

Iβm still not sure if enough Americans fully understand how hard it is for the rest of us to continually see polls showing βhow unpopular Trump isβ when heβs still ridiculously and shockingly more popular than he should be in any sane nation.@BrentToderian Ultimately it matters most to us since we're living under his presidency. We're sort of busy living under fascism and i can't say, especially as a transgender American i spend much time thinking about how outsiders see polls.
We've got bigger problems than others pondering polls.

Voter suppression measures are always about just that: making it harder for people who have the *constitutional right* to vote in elections to vote.@ricci It's politicians that are out to make it harder to vote, not those working on the front lines registering or verifying votes and that's imo the big problem with any of it.
Especially politicians trying to overturn mail-in-voting which is very helpful for turnout and can also be done well.

Voter suppression measures are always about just that: making it harder for people who have the *constitutional right* to vote in elections to vote.@ricci There's a lot of work that goes into registering voters and also counting and verifying votes. It always gets me that people think it's some half ass thing and that people working in elections dept's are somehow out to prevent folks from voting too.
I worked for our local elections dept. during one major election, one of many agencies i worked for before disability/retirement.
We ALL took our jobs seriously and denying anyone the right to vote, regardless of their views was not a thing.
