On the #CBC At-Issue Panel last night, #ChantalHébert and AlthiaRaj are quite negative about the prospects for the #NDP.

Thanks for posting it. I watched it last night and was going to do the same.
After Layton, the NDP in Quebec just collapsed. I'm not sure what it would take to rebuild there.
Basically that party doesn't exist at the federal level east of Ontario.

@acoyne @mpjgregoire I disagree with their prognostic. Previous NDP became a Liberal subsidiary by not just promising support on non confidence but also agree to be whipped by Libs and support all their flawed bills. If the new NDP leader can show NDP is back as a strong opposition party, they could regain much support especially if the threat of Poilievre being ejected goes away.

@Sir_Osis_of_Liver Oh, I don't know. Looking at Atlantic Canada, the NDP seems to be steadily growing provincially; that could be a prelude to federal growth.
I would be a mistake for me to give advice to the #NDP though: I liked Tom Mulcair, but that's not direction the party wants to go in.

The provincial party ebbs and flows, but seems to have a very low hard ceiling in NB.
There are a few provincial seats in NS that are pretty reliable though. The links with the federal party are particularly weak though.

I saw the At Issue panel last night. They spoke of both the NDP and the CPC, painting a grim picture for each. Poilievre is too extreme for voters on one end and Lewis is too extreme for voters on the other end, in their opinion. I dunno. Right now, people don't want an election and feel trust in Carney to deal with Trump. Thus, most people would be fine with Carney getting a majority via floor crossing because they desire some form of stability right now. However, as time moves on, especially if people's living conditions don't substantially improve, the cost of living issues that both Poilievre and Lewis (in their own respective ways) each address will gain more notice by the public at large. And helping both would be the support of a strong core of devoted followers (as represented by Poilievre's 87% approval at convention and as represented by Lewis' record breaking fundraising numbers --> record breaking for the NDP).
