      @GossiTheDog He is specifically talking about his own product that no one wants. The "no one wants copilot" vibe is so strong, they are damaging one of their biggest brands (Office) to boost sales of it.

      He's got a losing hand, even at a table full of shitty hands, he's got a real stinker.

      Some of the other Ai products might have some some shot, but Copilot? DOA.

      It's like they found a way to make their products worse, and doubled down on it, and then complain no one wants it. weird.

      @Sablebadger @GossiTheDog
      Office didn’t have any Goodwill to start with, only inertia.
      A combination of factors, including CrapPilot and suspending accounts at the behest of the Orange one has put the brakes on and is burning up that inertia.

        @GossiTheDog pretty certain that AI will boom soon. First, though, Linux on the desktop. Then, I guess, flying cars.

        Ironically, the collapse of Microsoft due to their All-In on LLM is causing a boom for Linux on the desktop.

              @GossiTheDog "AI Boom" and then it's just them trying to force us to buy things that absolutely nobody has ever asked for and that nobody actually wants.
              The consumer they're trying to sell this slop to genuinely doesn't exist because nobody wants to pay a subscription fee to a product that lies to them and ALSO still slurps up all of their data.
              At this point, every single company that goes "all-in" on AI is so incredibly out of touch that they actually deserve to fail.

                @Salvo @GossiTheDog True. For a big brand "inertia" isn't the worst thing to have if you're the brand holder.

                so killing that brand with a stupid rebrand is even dumber in that context.

                None of it makes any sense.

                                  @djvdq @GossiTheDog They got the deals to build the data centers on other people's property, mostly in rural areas where potential new work places are welcome to stimulate the local economy. This is the "social permission" they're bound to lose. Also legislators restricting the use of these data centers. Europe for instance faces a major energy crisis at the moment, with the climate crisis on the door mat, electricity is becoming a very scarce resource.

                                    @djvdq @GossiTheDog Money. As a society we've let people and large companies accumulate control over a large portion of our resources, which they are able to use for pretty much anything they want. The only reason he is worried about it now is people have stopped giving him money.
