I can imagine the look on your face if you have to walk past armed men in uniform to vote, if you can even do it (that's not a hit on you just fact). "I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic" the oath I swore to then and still hold dear now. I'm not beating the drum for violence but trying to get across what we May need to do, and what is still within the law.

I don't have to fantasize, it's someplace between absolute boredom and sheer terror. Any Vet will tell you the same, we are far more against wars then most folks you know. But sometimes it becomes necessary to put yourself in a place that requires action. Like I said I swore an Oath. . . Humanity is not truly Humane, that is a thin veneer most of us try to maintain as the better way to live. Look at Gaza, Sudan . . . Where is the hew and cry over closing USaid. Peace

@obscurestar @sashag years ago I said the way to defeat that is get all the water blessed by a priest, deem it "holy water" making it a violation of your religious freedom to prevent you from handing it out.

They do wanna couch all their asinine acts in "religious freedom," right?

@the_turtle @sashag Maybe, though Trump's ICE has been ignoring the 'Sanctuary' of the church. Also, it'd still be a scene-killer for goth raves.

@sashag This meme has been floating around for a couple of weeks.

IT IS MOST CERTAINLY HUMOR! I just hope it doesn't get someone hurt.

Govt and police communication is nearly 100% encrypted and what isn't, is hidden by the use of numerical codes 10/4 for example. Additionally scanners do NOT transmit, they receive. Having been a ham for 68 years, I have never seen a scanner that transmits.

This post is BS and should be removed!

@A_Minion learn a little more about the fight against voter suppression efforts and attending organized protests instead of suggesting "good guy with a guy" nonsense. Going to the polls visibly armed deters voters and escalates the dangers to everyone present.

The Black Panthers made it work until Ronald Reagan passed some of the strictest gun laws in the country to stop them.

@sashag Retired Ham radio operator here. 👋🎙️Please get in the habit of looking stuff up before sharing. For the love of all that is good and holy. 🤦‍♀️ Transmitting anything via radio in the U.S. is prohibited by the FCC and a real crime unless you’re on an FRS walkie-talkie or CB. And scanners don’t allow transmission. They are receive-only devices.

@jargoggles @shadowfals @sashag Nixon linked the GOP with christian fundys Reagan linked that GOP with corporations. And that's sorta how we got Trump. He or someone like him is who the GOP has been waiting for over the last 50+ years. Both had to cheat . .

Tho I'm not good with a pen, if you notice I started out writing . . Before I go. The Biden/Harris platform is what we all seek. Education, Homes, Medical (which FDR and all tried to get)the continuation of the economy from WWII to 70's. Many things were happening then that were killed by the GOP. It wasn't just folks getting high and protesting the war. Different types of work and income, getting people self supporting , UBI, cleanup the planet, long list. Peace

"What its members spent most of their time doing was community service."

                    100%

Far and away, the most critical aspect of protecting your community is showing up and meeting your community's needs. If the only thing someone has to contribute is a gun, that's almost certainly someone you don't want to hang out with.

There's a right and a wrong way to do it for sure, but reminding fascists that they don't have the monopoly on violence isn't nothing.

@kkarhan @sashag also police use encrypted (but perhaps crackable) frequencies for coms. Also transmitting on police frequencies is definitely not legal.

@sashag @Hex Re: Police radios, those are less useful to listen to.

                      • But it's useful to to passive SIGINT re: their radio frequencies as #TETRA is basically a weird flavoured #GSM remix and thus the known direct PTT and Uplink frequencies are passively recievable and scannable with like a (pair of) #RTLSDR(s).

                        • It'll allow guesstimating distance to the next digital radio that is turned on, thus the closest police officer on foot and/or patrol car/motorcycle..

#NotLegalAdvice but merely detecting a transmission is not considered illegal eavesdropping in most juristictions, espechally if one doesn't crack or decode the actual comms.

                      • And since this is completely passive there's no way for the police to be able to detect this nor counteract it unless they were to raid every potential location and refuse to use any radios whatsoever.

                        • Cuz OFC the same #SIGINT applies even to classic, analog #PTT radios!
