    It used to be that is you had a heavy wax buildup in your ears, your doctor or a nurse or PA would clean it out for you.

    But starting about ten years ago, that changed. Now they just tell you to buy an ear-cleaning kit with fluid from a pharmacy and do it yourself.

    At least, that's how it is in the USA now. I wonder if it's like that in other parts of the world?

      Fairly sure we've always just cleaned our ears normally, perhaps with a Q-Tip now and then...

          @Quasit The Netherlands. You go to your GP, an assistent will clean your ears. Q-tips are not advised, because they push the wax deeper into the ear.
