Did you know there is a Saint of Coffee? Introducing Saint Drogo of Sebourg.
He is the recognised patron saint of coffee, coffee house keepers and baristas, and sometimes, those considered physically unattractive. He lived from 1105–1186.
From Epinoy, France, he is often invoked by those seeking comfort or in specific, challenging or solitary situations.
He is associated with coffee due to his life of intense prayer, wakefulness in a coffee-like alert state, and an extreme, simple diet, which some connect to coffee's sustaining, bitter nature. Some accounts suggest his "miraculous" ability to be in two places at once makes him a perfect saint for busy baristas.
BTW, Pope Clement VIII allegedly baptised coffee.
