    This is a longshot, but I'm between my Masters and being accepted to any PhD programs. There's a conference that's right up my alley and I'd like to attend, but money is an issue. (EDIT: not just like to attend...could possibly network into a PhD while at the conference if I can afford to get there & attend)

    Does anyone know of grants or awards that would help a non-traditional disabled woman in science get travel funds?

      @ml let me know how the grant thing goes. I could help with a #mutualAid drive or something as well.

        @vlrny Thank you. That's kind of you to offer.

        I suspect I will not find anything as everything I'm aware of is usually targeted towards people who are aligned with certain institutions (either as a student or early career researcher) and unfortunately until I am accepted to a funded PhD, that is not a category I'm in.

          @ml

          Have you asked the conference organizers? Might be options for travel grants or support for people who help with the meeting onsite.

            @MCDuncanLab I'm going to do it, but I already did email and mention that I would have to scrape up funds and got not response on that subject, not even saying that I could get in at the student rate instead of the "professional" one.

            They do not say anything about travel grants on the conference site, either. https://efi.int/efimed-network-forum-2026/registration

                @cbuddenhagen @MCDuncanLab Yes, I have investigated that as well. Unfortunately, the ones I know of just support travel to the society's own annual conference. But I will be asking them as well.
