@pluralistic Long ago, I read a Bill Stickers poem, probably in some anthology, and could not find any reference to it in a search just now. From memory, the poem went something like this:
"Bill Stickers Will Be Prosecuted"
The evening papers run
But the thing I want to know
Is what's Bill Stickers done?Anyone recognize this or know the source?
(EDIT: found it; see later post in thread.)
@_the_cloud @pluralistic I remember it, or something very similar, but probably from about 40 years ago, so I've no memory of where it's from.

@MattMerk @pluralistic Bill Gates however...

Not searched hard nor found much, but Spike Milligan could have come up with that...

@_the_cloud @pluralistic Isn't it usually "Bill Posters"? You might have more luck searching with that.

@_the_cloud @pluralistic Another street sign I saw (in Melbourne Australia) many years ago:
"Blind Elderly People Crossing"
which seems like a horribly cruel thing to do.

God help me, this Don Martin cartoon has been stuck in my brain for 35 years

@aebrockwell @pluralistic I took this photo in Scotland. Apparently elderly people had become such a road hazard that the council felt that they needed to put up a sign.

@aebrockwell @_the_cloud @pluralistic @jaythurbershow I was a Don Martin fan in the seventies and still recognize his style from the first panel

The hinged feet are a bit of a giveaway though

I once waited for three hours in a restaurant bathroom for an employee to come and wash my hands before I could eat. I'm lucky I didn't starve to death

@_the_cloud @aebrockwell @pluralistic that's nice, in the US if you're old and you live where it's unsafe to walk, you just don't leave your house, unless you're rich, than you can pay to have someone drive you around.

I remember "POST NO BILLS" in Canada, which would usually be covered in stenciled pictures of well known Bills, such as Clinton, Cosby, and Gates. That was before a lot of things. I suppose we could still leverage Murray and Bruford...

@_the_cloud @aebrockwell @pluralistic my cheery old tour guide pointed out this sign and she described it as "here's a sign warning you that women will steal your grandad's wallet"
