Baking beans today. Managed not to forget the pork OR the onion. πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘ 3-hours in; halfway there.

@tantramar Do you add real QuΓ©bec (or, I guess, Ontario) Maple Syrup to the beans?

@StaceyCornelius @CatherineBabault Costco specials! Only needed 3 of them after gulping down 1 ½ bowls straight out of the oven. 😬

@scrivolical I may as well come clean: I buy my maple syrup at Costco and it’s from QuΓ©bec. And it is excellent. 🍁

@tantramar I have good memories of beans slow simmered with pork, bits of bacon, and maple syrup from QuΓ©bec, in MontrΓ©al from a local shop. Now that I live in Toronto, I haven’t found a local establishment that slow cooks and sells only beans. I live alone, so making a big batch myself would be debilitating.

@scrivolical Depends on what you mean by a big batch. I don’t think I could anything much bigger than my Paderno Dutch Oven into my oven. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

@StaceyCornelius @CatherineBabault Wait β€” did you mean the glass storage containers or the steel Dutch Oven? It’s a Paderno from Canadian Tire and, unlike most of my 30ish-year-old Paderno pieces, is new.

@tantramar Yum, looks delicious. Will go nicely with my homemade bread.

@CatherineBabault The bread remains a work in progress. 😬 Hopefully more on that soon. 🀣
