True story: Ft. Sill Oklahoma, USA. The US military runs on metric. This is drilled into every recruit.
One recruit was having issues with his metric wisdom. The Drill Instructors had him out in front of the billets, with his hands spread wide apart - and made him yell, over and over, at the top of his lungs:
"One meter is about one goddamn yard !

We are now: hotdogs per .. penguin (?) measure system … and of course this selection of measurements presented to us today
(To understand the joke, I have heard, “ hotdogs per bald eagles” before when talking about the american system) -

I think the US should develop a new length unit.
This new length unit should be based on the length of the standard issue gun used in US military (M16A4).

@dianea I admit that I have on occasion taken a dollar bill out of my wallet to use as an impromptu ruler. I'm perfectly comfortable with metric, but we don't have metric money yet.
