So, as @sindarina finally got me to understand, the only way to get the recent security patches on my iPhone SE is to update to iOS 26. The patches to iOS 18 are only available to phones that can’t update to IOS 26.

So I may be forced onto iOS 26. Way to make me hate you, Apple. If I didn’t already, as Tim Cook sucks up to Trump.

Be prepared for some griping after I do the update. At least they’ve made some changes so Liquid Glass is less annoying than when first released. And hopefully Apple Intelligence either doesn't run on my phone or I can turn it off.

Thanks to @dillyd I learned today I'll probably need to fuss with the clock display on my lock screen. One of many settings I'll need to figure out.

Also: Please no recommendations that I move to Linux, Android, etc. That just isn't going to happen for reasons I shouldn't need to list.

@jeridansky @sindarina My husband hasn't stopped bitching about it. And I need to figure out that clock thing, too. It eluded me on my first attempt.

@gparenti I've been told this is how to do it:
Settings > Wallpaper > Customise button on the active lockscreen, and then tap the time, select 'Solid' instead of 'Glass'.
