@eloy or, an editing error more generally; it makes sense without the "MCIX" in the way

@jn @eloy i think they mean that the full name is often shortened to Macronix, and MCIX is its ticker symbol

@eloy you will NEVER understand how visceral my hatred is towards the MX25L6404E and really any of their 25xx lineup from this era

@eloy Although "Macronix" is three easily pronounceable syllables while "MCIX" is four annoying to pronounce syllables, so it literally would be a (verbal) shortening…

@eloy Even in English if you pronounce ""WWW" as "double-you double-you double-you" and not (as I always insist on doing) "we we we"!

@mothwaves @eloy That's probably because I'm German, so I was taught in elementary school that the letter "w" is pronounced "we" (with the "e" here pronounced as an https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Close-mid_front_unrounded_vowel) and since I consider it unbearable and unnecessary to always acknowledge the history of the letter each time we say it I refuse to pronounce it as "double-you" and just English-fy it a bit to "we" (here not meant in the way above, but as the word "we" (i.e. the one that is related to the word "us"), so more like "wee" (in my previous post I also referred to the "wee" pronunciation of "we")). So I'm well-aware that this is wrong (at least in so far as this ever is possible in language…), but I'm not gonna do it otherwise…

@eloy I think it means that "Macronix International Co., Ltd." is often shortened to "Macronix", not "MCIX"
