There are fountains of wealth being generated in this country. But that wealth isn't trickling down to working people. It’s all stuck at the top.

Our 'Tax Plan for the 99%' takes on the corporate hoarding class – to redistribute wealth and raise the floor for all of us.

Income inequality is at an all-time high in Canada.

Meanwhile, CEO pay keeps climbing. The top 1% richest families control almost a quarter of the country’s wealth. And the six biggest banks raked in $70 billion in profits last year alone.

It’s time to tilt the scales back towards the 99%.

@avilewis Thank you for proposing a wealth tax! Wealth inequality is now so large that income taxes alone are not enough to solve the problem. Billionaires have way too much power, because of their wealth.

And 1% wealth can't be achieved through wages - even 1% wages! Extreme wealth isn't incentivising anything useful to society.

Consider stating your wealth tax threshold in dollar terms, not just as "the 1%". Is it $5M? $10M? $100M? How many voters' aspirations will this affect?

I agree that putting a number to it is a good idea otherwise just proposing a wealth tax will inevitably be used to fear monger amoung the working class that 'Avi's going to steal your hard earned savings!'

For reference Statistics Canada table 36-10-0660-01 shows that the Highest wealth quintile had an average net worth of $12,047,197 in Q3 of 2025
