@chris I just hope there will be enough notice if Alberta separates so I can abandon ship. I hate living in Alberta but really can't afford to move provinces at the moment

Not only does this connect back to you Oma's story, its also the lesson from the UK BrexitRef Remain campaign. They spoke only of the economic arguments, and lost the referendum, and with it, they lost Britain's economy.
