    @marcoarment A $12/year increase from $45 to $57 (before 15% sales tax). That’s a small 26% increase (if my maths is correct)

        @marcoarment We're updating the cost of your subscription. Pray we don't update it any further.

          @marcoarment They're "right-sizing" the price. There was a discrepancy between what they were getting and what they want to be getting.

            @marcoarment Very similar to 'updating our privacy policy' or 'updating our subscription terms'. This passive-voice crap really needs to be shot into the sun.

                      @jwz @marcoarment I switched to strongbox, which felt like the mac assed mac app that 1password used to be, and has the added bonus of storing everything in the open keepass format so I can use it everywhere.

                          @marcoarment up, and whilst not a huge for a year, it's not something I can say I support - as it seems to be only targeting their family plans (we didn't get an email for our team account for @bloominbeads)

                          They're VC funded now, not some tiny indie dev anymore. Honestly, I'm disappointed, plus the 'AI naming' thing.

                            @marcoarment You’re lucky.
                            Bitwarden increased the price by 100%!
                            From 10 to 20.
                            A year.

                            @pax0707 @marcoarment their language was even more passive, the email I received simply had the subject "Your Bitwarden Premium renewal is updating", so I almost didn't notice the price increase... the second sentence was "The price is updating to $1.65/month, billed annually". Though it added that "As an existing Bitwarden customer, you will receive a one-time 25% loyalty discount for this year's renewal".

                            $20/yr seems a bit steep just for U2F key support. $10/yr felt worth it.

                                @axby @pax0707 @marcoarment If you only use Bitwarden for that feature, yes, that seems like a steep price hike *. A big notepad is cheap, and it might serve you better if you have no interrest in the more advanced bells and features you get with a basic subscription.
                                Or you could use Keepass or Lastpass. They’d probably pay people to sign up these days.

                                *I ,apart from using it, have no affiliation with Bitwarden in any way.

                                  @marcoarment I can understand that wording for services that are actually making structural changes. For instance a hosting provider charging by minutes instead of bandwidth.

                                  But just raising the price? Nah.

                                    @Izng @pax0707 @marcoarment I forgot about emergency and shared access, I do appreciate those somewhat. But I’d rather store my TOTP secrets separately (I actually use Keepass for that). Are there any other great premium features I’m missing?

                                    Hmm and it looks like U2F key support is included in the free version now, I don’t think it was 2 years ago.

                                    I don’t want to cancel because Bitwarden has been great and I want it to survive, but it seems like the free version would meet all my needs.

                                          @Izng @pax0707 @marcoarment ah, I guess I've never even looked into that because I pay for a domain name (slightly cheaper than Bitwarden premium after the price "update"), so I can get anything@{my domain} forwarded to my main email inbox.

                                          It is fun to sign up for services using {service name}@{my domain name} as the email, though it can get awkward when dealing with a real person who wants to confirm your email address.

                                          I have yet to catch any spam from these aliases, though.
