      @NorcalGma2 do you mind to share where this is? It is a marsh as you wrote in the ALT text, this means it is a coastal brack water marsh?

      And nice photo. Thanks for sharing.

        @utzer
        The pond is brackish water and next to a levy at the Eel River Wildlife Area Ocean Ranch. In Humboldt County northern California within walking distance to the Pacific Ocean and Table Bluff.

          @NorcalGma2 thanks for the answer. Just read about Humboldt County on Wikipedia.
          Looks like an interesting area, and Humboldt Bay was only discoverd and named in the 19th century.

            Ahhh...
            But I am Wailaki so my family has been here for much longer than that.
            We live in a very scenic area.
            It is a ten minute drive from my house to the pond in the photo.

              @NorcalGma2 ah sorry about that. What a blunder from my side.

              It sounds very scenic and kind of remote. When I looked the area up on Google Maps I also checked what restaurants are there and it seems there are plenty good ones in the area.

              It was really interesting to read about this area in the north of California. Thanks again.
