online social media discourse in a nutshell is white people yelling at other white people to check their white privilege, all while believing that yelling at other people to check their white privilege is a substitute for their checking their own white privilege

@imbl no sweaty, you see, disability and intersex status don't even begin to compare in scope of harm to the male loneliness epidemic transmasculine erasure

@YKantRachelRead follow this to its logical conclusion and what you get is that transfems can't be marginalized because transfemininity is a bourgeois decadence and all sheems just have the money to undo any marginalization they might otherwise face

this is just "transness is a hobby for bored men with too much money" with woke dressing

@imbl@social.treehouse.systems @YKantRachelRead@social.treehouse.systems Let's be honest, for a lot of 'leftist' folks any femininity is seen as a bourgeois decadence

@imbl@social.treehouse.systems @YKantRachelRead@social.treehouse.systems I've literally heard leftist men say things like this, while demanding sex from femmes.

@steff @imbl @YKantRachelRead verilybitchy made a very good video essay about that; but even before the essay came out, I was saying this; that so much of what the culture thinks are femininity signifiers are historically class signifiers. high heels, painted nails, corsettes, lace, high fashion; all things that used to be way more expensive and worn by upper class men. there was a deliberate and explicitly misogynistic shift to associate bourgeoisie and frivolous things with femininity so men could look serious and practical by comparison

@bri7@social.treehouse.systems @imbl@social.treehouse.systems @YKantRachelRead@social.treehouse.systems Definitely. Thomas King wrote like a 400 page book on how queer and feminine gestures and bodies became coded as decedent in the 18th with the creation of fixed western gender norms. Fascinating stuff

@steff @imbl @YKantRachelRead still, having nice nails, smooth skin, and nice clothes is nice. we can reject the bourgie framing, we don’t live in revolutionary france. this stuff is cheap and accessible now.

@bri7@social.treehouse.systems @YKantRachelRead@social.treehouse.systems @imbl@social.treehouse.systems I've literally been in discussions with leftest men who argue teachers, nurses, and waitresses aren't 'workers' because they don't "create value." Note: they are almost always fem coded jobs.
