That’s the price for a certified accessibility specialist. This is practically free training for them, not just some testing.

Yeah, no. Not and will never be doing that for $50. Shame on them, this is completely disrespectful of *any* disabled person.

@hmig @energisch_ @FediThing @WeirdWriter Even if you‘re only making in the 20-30$ range, the other argument still stands. This is the most valuable training that you can possibly get, you‘re profiting off this work and that disabled person hundredfold, be it direct or indirectly. What an insult.

@hmig @kc @energisch_ @FediThing @WeirdWriter To be fair as a freelancer/contractor with the current inflation, it’s not exactly generous. If I calculate all my expenses on a $50 hour, I would end up below minimum wage.

@hmig @sbourne How much accessibility testing experience does one have to have? I am an assistive tech trainer and screen reader user with a pretty good handle on WCAG.

@hmig @matt I could help with that. I have access to NVDA, JAWS, and Narrator on Windows 11, VoiceOver on MacOS 15, Orca on Linux (both Arch Linux and the BT Speak), VoiceOver on iOS 26, and TalkBack on Android 16. I also have a 20-cell Braille display and a Monarch if Braille testing is important.
