Carney critiques the current global order but offers only a hardened neoliberalism as an alternative.

@yogthos You're saying a socialist country wouldn't need a stable financial system??

@dan613 I have no idea how you arrived at that from me pointing out how Canada has been piggy backing on US imperialism

@yogthos That was the only thing on that page I could find that might be the least bit objectionable. Now you're calling trade imperialism?

@dan613 no, I'm calling using military force to subjugate countries and extract their resources imperialism, try to put a bit more effort into your hamfisted trolling

@yogthos Where was that in the speech?
@dan613 that reflects very poorly on your reading comprehension, which honestly explains a lot about this whole discussion. Here's a detailed explanation you can read since critical thinking isn't something you're capable of doing independently https://www.thomasfazi.com/p/davos-carney-and-the-staged-revolt

@yogthos You can't answer a simple question?

@yogthos You can't answer a simple question?
@dan613 I did answer your simple question, Carney openly admitted that the whole rules based order was the US projecting power globally subjugating non western nations to create favourable conditions for its vassals like Canada.
The article I linked you in the last reply gives the context for what Carney said with concrete examples of atrocities NATO engaged in Afghanistan, Libya, and many other countries.

@pinhman @yogthos all that is true, but what he said in front of the world is more biting and incisive than anything neoliberals have said in forever, and this is why we are being reminded so often of his neoliberal values.
Still, he said something that was more of a condemnation of the neoliberal world order than any neoliberal has. We have to capture that moment, remind neoliberals and fascists of it.
@milkman76 @pinhman @yogthos I was questioning this: "offers only a hardened neoliberalism as an alternative" from your original post, which wasn't in his speech. Trade with other countries is not neoliberalism, and I don't understand why you think it is.

@dan613 @milkman76 @pinhman Carney's whole speech is about preserving the neoliberal order without the US. He's thesis is that western liberalism thrived under the US umbrella, and now that it's gone, western countries need to band together to preserve this system of relations going forward.

@yogthos @dan613 @pinhman this is well understood. But again, I honed in on his catastrophic condemnation of that order, which stands out among his peers, regardless. You know things are getting serious for the neoliberals when they begin to admit truths some of us have put a lot of energy into getting others to listen to for decades. (Im not a Carney supporter, im a fan of Neoliberalism blacking its own eyes out)

@milkman76 @dan613 @pinhman for sure, it's one of the most significant admissions about the nature of the liberal world order to date

@yogthos @milkman76 @pinhman My point continues to be that his speech would be the same if every single country on the planet was socialist.

@dan613 @milkman76 @pinhman if socialism was the dominant system in the world there would be no extractive hegemony in the first place, and hence this speech would not exist

@yogthos @milkman76 @pinhman There would still be the largest economy in the world right next to us, extractive or not. And moving *away* from it is the opposite of perpetuating neo-liberalism.

Ok, would it be the same if every single country in the world was ruled by people like @nyx , Ahaiyuta, TwoWhateverist, and the like?
Despite this, I think that in a world where all countries are like Nyx Land's Nammu, there would have no nation states left and that Jiang Xueqin's Libertarianism would become true lol.

Explain to me what neoliberalism is and why Jair Bolsonaro, Javier Milei, Nayib Bukele, Erdogan, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, Daniel Noboa, Rodrigo Paz, Jose Antonio Kast, Reagan, Thatcher, Netanyahu, Klaus Schwab, Gunther Fehlinger, NATO etc aren't/weren't Neoliberal/Neoliberalism.
You can write a long essay if you want to.

@milkman76 @pinhman @dan613 he's literally talking about preserving the current liberal system in the face of the US turning on the vassals. That's the thrust of his speech.
