Hello Fediverse!

I'm an Ex-Architect currently diving deep into the world of Distributed Systems. I have a passion for understanding how complex systems work and fail.
In my spare time, I build simulators for fun. Looking forward to connecting with others interested in system design and simulation!

@david_spark Yes, I figured you're new to Mastodon — nice to meet you! What do you do in life?

@NewsGroup Thanks for the warm welcome! I’m a software engineer. I've been in the industry for about 15 years now, so I've seen quite a few tech trends come and go. How about you?

@david_spark Got you — I’m also a software developer but with less experience, about 4 years. I work on various projects and I set up this server too. I like Mastodon; I’m for freedom.

@NewsGroup That’s awesome! Honestly, 4 years is a great sweet spot—you’ve moved past the basics and are starting to see how the bigger pieces fit together. Setting up your own server and running Mastodon is impressive; it’s the best way to really learn the 'guts' of the internet. I’ve always been a fan of the decentralized movement too. What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced managing your own instance so far?

@david_spark Probably the worst experience in development is relying on the Flutter framework and hoping the web will work as well as the mobile app — then spending a ton of time implementing SEO mechanics for the web version, plus a lot more work in that area. I can share the mobile version for you to review and maybe give advice — I still have a lot of work left on the project.

@NewsGroup Ouch. As a Java/Backend vet (15 years), I’ve seen the 'write once' promise hit walls before.
Architecturally, fighting a framework for SEO is a losing battle. Best move: split it—use HTML/CSS for public SEO pages and keep Flutter for the app logic.
Send the mobile build over! Happy to test the flow and give feedback.

@david_spark Friend, let me know what mobile platform you have – we have an app for both Android and iOS, so I can send you the link.
