I really think cats see people sitting in chairs doing things and they want the power to do those things for themselves. My cat jumps into the seat at the dinner table because he wants dinner. Maybe it's food or the socialization that happens around it, but he's there for it.

@JenMsft i’m told that cats (unlike dogs) prefer drinking from running water rather than standing water.
So perhaps he’s just queuing up for a drink?

@peterbrown there's a reason I keep the toilet lid closed and it's definitely the cats
