@alicefrieren fortunately he sometimes gets up to have a snack and I can make an escape. Otherwise I’d be doomed.

@aetheranne I'm glad to hear your cat is doing pretty well. I didn't know thyroid problems were common in older cats, either. I've had three other cats who reached a good old age and never had thyroid issues. Tennessee had a gallstone (or maybe gallstones) about a year and half ago now and had his gall bladder removed. Aside from that major blip, he's been healthy. Not bad for age 17!

@cafechatnoir Yay for pilling success!Tennessee is such a good boy that I don't need to bury his pills in food! I just swipe the capsule in some wet food (a step I skipped for tiny pills), tilt his head back, get his mouth open and pop that sucker in the back! Then keep his head tilted back for at least six seconds.

@realsimon @StaceyCornelius I never had a cat who did that before, but Tennessee is a champion at head butting hard furniture edges and almost anything else that's hard enough to provide satisfaction: his hair brush, a cat toy mouse that happens to have a large firm body, the wood windowsill in my office, etc.
