@davidculley @aral There's this quote, which often is misattributed to Werner Herzog, that goes, "Dear America: You are waking up as Germany once did, to the awareness that 1/3 of your people would kill another 1/3, while 1/3 watches", and I think that could apply to any Western country at this point, albeit with a few outliers like the Scandinavians.Your point about people being generally selfish and parochial minded applies equally to the UK, alas.
