Since we here in the USA don’t know the #metric system, we need to learn more units for this weekend

the thing americans use to pay for everything then they need to declare bankruptcy because of it

I think the US should develop a new length unit.

This new length unit should be based on the length of the standard issue gun used in US military (M16A4).

@dianea I remember reading a thread in old Twitter days. It was from a Polish translator who does american movies. He said this is the worst, when they describe everytyhing in football pitches, or say "it's a size of a M16 gun", as nobody in civilised countries know what size a gun like that is or how long is the pitch for american hand-egg-brawl-game, and then you might often lose context or something because of it.

True story: Ft. Sill Oklahoma, USA. The US military runs on metric. This is drilled into every recruit.

One recruit was having issues with his metric wisdom. The Drill Instructors had him out in front of the billets, with his hands spread wide apart - and made him yell, over and over, at the top of his lungs:

"One meter is about one goddamn yard !
One meter is about one goddamn yard !"

We are now: hotdogs per .. penguin (?) measure system … and of course this selection of measurements presented to us today
(To understand the joke, I have heard, “ hotdogs per bald eagles” before when talking about the american system)
