Disregard environmental and societal factors (air filtration/ventilation, testing) for the purpose of this exercise.
Filter fabric over the bell of a brass instrument? Readimask adhered over the nose to filter inhaled air? What other outlandish and/or ingenious solutions can you think of?

@forth A brass player does not inhale air through his instrument so covering the bell is a no-go.
Most players tried using a mask with a slit cut into it to minimize particle intake but it was minimally successful.
Playing a wind or brass instrument of any kind means you are taking quick, deep breaths. Having a good air filtration unit next to you would probably be the most effective. -
