Not only are they wearing masks to make sure they can compete healthy, they are living outside the Olympic village in an off-site hotel during the entirety of the Games — a substantial financial investment intended to protect “health and wellness.”

Even a cold affects athletic performance during their brief chance so yes this makes sense even if covid did not exist.

@augieray 7th year of the pandemic, and finally people are realizing it is best to don a mask and take precautions rather than risk an acute illness that could easily side swipe chances for an Olympic medal (and their future sporting career). It boggles my mind how people don't mind gambling their health away after working so hard.
