Wrote a blog post, instead of another GitLab Snippet, on upgrading our two #Tor relays to use the new Happy Families feature that was released yesterday in Tor 0.4.9.5. All in all, it was extremely uncomplicated to set up, and maybe that can encourage more people to try it out sooner rather than later!

The post assumes some likely #Debian and #Ubuntu specifics, but most should apply to other distributions as well. Blog post at https://ahf.me/blog/2026/02/13/upgrading-tor-relays-to-happy-families/

Awesome to see more operators upgrading to #Tor 0.4.9.5, but also to see the number of Happy Families increasing! Over the weekend, the following has happened:
- We have gone from 185 to 952 unique relays uploading Happy Families keys. Of those, 104 are Happy Families only.
- Of the Directory Authorities, Babelmoo and Bastet joined Moria1 in running 0.4.9. We need consensus method 35 for HF to show up in microdescriptors.
Progress on all fronts
