He (Matt) argues... it's "just a link", "organic discovery": blogrolls on the left, RSS links on the right.

AFAIK IP over avian carrier (IPoAC) has been a standard since 1990. See
RFC 2549 (1999), it has been implemented in 2001. Afaics you propose an improvement using SD cards instead of printing datagrams on paper. This may be quite an improvement! -
