@javensbukan I’m surprised Hydro-Q hasn’t issued a warning yet.
They’re also not immune to the phenomenon.

@EdwinG I guess we're fine so far as long as the wind keeps blowing and the New England and North East gas pipeline says operational. And our ancient decrepit coal plants that run on imported coal.

I'm surprised Newfoundland isn't taking power from the Maritime Link interconnect to NS though...maybe it can only send power?

That seems like a missed opportunity if true.

@javensbukan Can’t you guys get power from New Brunswick and Point Lepreau Nuclear?

@EdwinG @javensbukan The link is between Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. "The Maritime Link".
https://www.emeranl.com/maritime-link/overview
DC line. 470MW .
Of the documents I hace read, I have only seen mention of the line used to export power towards Nova Scotia, no mention of import capability. Being a DC line, it needs equipment at each end for each direction of flow, so if theye is no equipment to send power to Newfoundland, they can't import. Newfoundland seems omitted from the various grid maps. Nova Scotia , PEI and New Burnswick are synched to the North East grid that include Toronto, New York.
No idea about New Found Land. So now, the rabbit hole you created with your post makes me wonder if Québec has dedicated turbines at Churchill Falls that run on Québec's 60hz, or whether there are massive 60hz converters between Churchill falls and the transmission lines to Québec.
Oh, and BTW, Nova Scotia is starved of power, , none to export:
