    Ubuntu 26.04 is splitting its linux-firmware package into vendor-specific sub-packages (Intel, AMD, NVIDIA, Qualcomm, etc).

    Why? To save bandwidth – no need for a tiny security patch to require re-downloading the 600MB+ archive, so this is good news if you're on a patchy or metered connection.
